Introducing: The Amber Trousers

If you were looking for the perfect pair of summer pants, you’ve found them! Our newest pattern, the Amber Trousers will keep you cool and stylish this season. The goal was to create a pair of summer pants that flow and are quick to sew, but without an elastic waistband. Because let’s face it, however comfortable, those aren’t flattering on anyone. Especially if you’re a wide-hipped or curvy-tummied girl, you’ll know what I mean. The Amber Trousers have a fitted yoke on the front and back, to keep that waist-to-hip area smooth. The V-shape of the yokes lend a beautiful feminine touch. Below that, the pant legs flow out with an inverted box pleat to give your legs room to breathe. I’ve worn these pants to death last summer, and I hope you’ll like them just as much as I do. Read on for more details on the pattern and a sale!

And of course these pants have pockets to hold your essentials or just your hands. The slash pockets are simple to sew and roomy enough to actually be useful. The pants close with a blind zipper at the side seam. This way the closure doesn’t interfere with the shape of the yokes and leaves room to show off those beautiful lines. If you haven’t sewn a blind zipper before, don’t worry: there’s a photo tutorial to guide you through the steps.

This pattern comes with two main views: a tapered leg and a wide pant leg. The tapered leg ends just below the ankle, the wide leg ends at heel height. With these two options you have the possibility to make multiple variations with a very different look, depending on the fabric you choose. View A is perfect in a casual fun printed rayon, or go for silk if you want to take it up a notch. View B can be made in a chique palazzo-style medium weight linen for instance, or in a rayon challis or crepe for a breezy beach vibe. Aside from these options, think what else you could do: chop them off below knee length and you have culottes, or chop them off even higher and you have a pair of summer shorts.

The PDF is layered so you can only print the sizes you want, and available in both Letter/A4 size to print at home (23-26 pages) and in A0 format to print at a copyshop (2 pages).
